The forest is navigated by following the sound of Saria's ocarina leading Link to the Sacred Forest Meadow where Saria teaches him her song. The entrance to the Lost Woods lies directly to the northwest of Kokiri Forest. After meeting Princess Zelda for the first time he returns here to talk to his childhood friend Saria and is told she is playing her ocarina at "the usual spot" within the Lost Woods. Early in the game, Link is sent by the Deku Tree to meet Princess Zelda and is forced to leave the forest, something the Kokiri believe they must never do. At the start of the game Link lives in Kokiri Forest, a part of the Lost Woods inhabited by the Kokiri. In Ocarina of Time, the Lost Woods is located in southeastern Hyrule. The dark shadows of the trees are also good growing conditions for the Sleepy Mushroom, which can be given to the potion shop witch and turned into Magic Powder. The forest is patrolled by several thieves, who won't hesitate to rob passersby of their rupees, should they come too close. Hidden in the deepest part of the woods is a shrine holding the legendary Master Sword. In A Link to the Past the Lost Woods is located in the northwestern section of Hyrule, directly north of Kakariko Village. If the player did not know the correct pattern, they would be unable to reach western Hyrule without having to cross the river north of the large lake.

It required a certain pattern of directions (north, west, south, west) in order for the Link to pass through successfully. Here the Lost Woods was a single-screen, repeating area filled with trees, with one path forming a cross. The Lost Woods first appeared in the original The Legend of Zelda.

It's this item that allows Link to flip the temple between it's regular and inverted form. They have a high magic consumption, but can take down many enemies in one hit, and can net Link an enormous amount of rupees (definitely try hitting blue bubbles with them). In order to beat Stone Tower, Link has to traverse both the normal and inverted versions of the temple.ĭefeating Garo Master nets Link the light arrows, the most powerful arrows in the game. It's recommended that Link drink Chateau Romani before entering, since the temple requires using a LOT of magic, and the drink will give him an unlimited magic supply for the entire three-day cycle. Consistent with the area's theme, the temple has many light-based puzzles that Link must use his Mirror Shield-reminiscent of the Spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time-or light arrows to solve. Once inside, the temple itself challenges Link to put every skill he has learned to the test. Link must utilize all four of his forms along with the Elgy of Emptiness, passed on to him by the Spirit of the King of Ikana, in order to climb the tower and reach the temple entrance. It lies adjacent to Ikana Castle, but can only be accessed by walking up the tongue-like ramp on the far right of the main Ikana Canyon area. Stone Tower is the fourth and final temple in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
